MuAbo-Music Abominations Outside the Wall
Sunday, November 27, 2005
I thought this place was dead; but I guess if you leave a flatline running for three years, it's bound to blip eventually. Chalk it up to quantum mechanics.
Anyway...my picks for 2005.

Nomination for music abomination? "My Humps" by Black Eyed Peas.
Formerly a "conscious" rap group, Black Eyed Peas have brought upon this earth an abomination unto the musical lord. Not least of the crimes is chorus, "My humps/ my humps/ my lovely lady lumps."
Breasts or breast cancer— you decide.

I missed Debra's birthday!
I missed Murphy's birthday
I am a bad person. I'll go suck a fig.
I've got Murphy's address, so I'm sending him something that (out of the people I know online) only he and I and a slight few others would care for or care about. Mash-ups. They're already over (or much so) in England, but just sort of catching on here. My fascination is with the remediating of the genre of pop song through appropriation, meter stretching and matching, and the ability of any sod with acid-pro to be a (sorry okeep) producer. I dunno, something about these bjorked up mixes just catches my attention. it's ephemeral, it's a (splendid) waste of time, and I love em. Just dl'd Clash vs. Lost Vegas--London Calling. We have seen the future of music and it is us. Scary.
Debra, I've lost your address. I've got a package for you, too, but no mash-ups, just bop & piano.
